One Million Giraffes

23 Feb

When Ola Helland said that she could collect one million drawings of giraffes by 2011, her friend Jergen didn’t believe her. To date, she’s collected 590,703 giraffes, which means she needs 409,297 more. Click here to participate in a completely pointless movement and prove some random stranger wrong! Hooray!

Nylon Rope: $2.79, Clothespins Stolen from Mom: Free, Finding a New Way to Display Your Art: Priceless

3 Jul

clothesline art

Really, it’s elementary, my dear Watson. Take a nylon rope, hammer a nail into the wall, tie a knot around said nail, and keep on putting nails and wrapping the rope around the nails with a loop until you get to the end, where you again tie a knot. Add clothespins and art. Ta dah. So far, no huge holes in my wall or art fallen on the floor. Hurrah!

Latest Art: Wonderland

wonderland

This is my most recently finished painting, Wonderland. While I intend to keep this one for myself, soon, I plan to start selling other paintings, as well as knitted goods, in my Etsy store. Like what you see? Then save your money up, people, ’cause I’ve really got this starving-artist thing going for me.

Hey! I’m on Etsy!

And you should buy my stuff, ’cause I’ve got this whole poor starving artist thing going for me. Ha. Would it help if I gave you puppy dog eyes?

Another Art Journal Finished

25 Jun

Yesterday, I finished my fourth art journal which I made myself from a box, torn blue jeans, and watercolor paper. Art journaling differs from regular journaling in that the emphasis is on explaining your thoughts in pictures/artfully, instead of just sitting down and writing a long dissertation about your breakfast foods of choice. I find art journaling to be a very fun hobby, but maybe I’m just stuck on myself.

See selected entries here at my flickr.
